Army today paid floral tributes to jawan Deepak Jagannath Ghadge, who was killed in Pakistani firing along the LoC in Poonch district on Thursday.

"A wreath laying ceremony was organized in honour of the brave martyr Sepoy Deepak Jagannath Ghadge, who laid down his life guarding the nation's frontiers while serving at the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector," PRO Defence Lt Col Manish Mehta said.

At Ace of Spades Division at Akhnoor here, the General Officer Commanding laid the wreath. The wreaths were also laid on behalf of Lt Gen D Anbu, Army Commander Northern Command and Lt Gen A K Sharma, General Officer Commanding White Knight Corps.

The 27-year-old Ghadge belongs to village Borgaon in Satara district of Maharashtra.

He is survived by his wife, 2-year-old son and daughter aged 1 year. The jawan had suffered a bullet injury in the head.

There have been a number of ceasefire violations along the international border and the LoC this year.
