Pakistan army provoked India again on Sunday when they  killed four soldiers including an officer and injured another on the Line of Control (LoC) in the Rajouri district of Jammu division.

Earlier four people including two civilians were injured in the ceasefire violations in Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu division.

“One officer and three Jawans martyred in Rajouri. Most areas affected due to ceasefire violation”, tweeted Dr Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary, district development commissioner of Rajouri.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti expressed her condolence to the familes of the martyred soldiers.  “Pained to hear that three soldiers were killed and two injured along the Line of Control in Rajouri. My condolences to the deceased’s families”, she tweeted.

Official sources said Pakistan has fired more hundreds of shells in the last 24 hours to target the forward posts and civilian villages in the Pir Panjal valley. In fact Pakistan army has opened multiple fronts on the LoC shelling Indian forward posts and civilian areas in Poonch, Mendhar, Rajouri, Sunderbani  and Nowshera sectors along the Line of Control in Pir Panjal valley of Jammu.

Pakistan is using heavy caliber long-range weapons including 120 mm mortars, which has a range of seven kilometers, and 82 mm mortars, having range of 4.5 kilometers, to inflict maximum damage deep into the civilian areas. More than 40 ceasefire violations have taken place in the last 20 days.

Earlier Pakistan army activated its guns again and shelled Indian forward positions and civilian areas along the Line of Control (LoC) injuring two civilians and a soldier in the Shahpur sector of the Poonch district in Jammu division.

District development commissioner of Poonch Tariq Ahmad Zargar told DNA that a 15-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy received splinter injuries in the Pakistan shelling in Shahpur sector on Sunday morning.

“The shelling started at 11 am. Fifteen-year-old Gulnaz and 16-year-old Yasin Arif suffered splinter injuries. They were shifted to district hospital Poonch and their condition is stated to be stable”, he said.

Later Pakistan army opened another front when they shelled Indian forward position and civilian areas in the Balakote and Manjakote sectors in Poonch and Rajouri districts respectively.  “Ceasefire violation in Manjkote”, tweeted Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary, district development commissioner of Rajouri.

The fresh shelling comes three days after schools were once again closed in the border areas after Pakistan resumed shelling on Indian forward positions and civilian areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera and Lam sectors of Rajouri district in Jammu division.

More than 14 people have been killed in the Pakistani shelling on Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) since January 17.   More than 50 people have suffered injuries and 50,000 people have fled their homes in Jammu division.

On Wednesday Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Devraj Anbu said they are responding to any firing (from Pakistan) in a very professional manner.

The Indian army said nearly 200 to 250 militants are waiting in the south of Pir Panjal and 200 and 250 are waiting in the north of Pir Panjal to infiltrate.

“In altogether 500 odd militants are waiting to go. If these people infiltrate and get eliminated, you have more terrorists being sent to the camps and that number will keep getting filled. But what is important for us is not let any infiltration take place. We have to eliminate them at the border and that is what we are focusing on. We have taken large measures”, Lt Gen Anbu said.
