The Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat on Monday assured the family of Rifleman Aurangzeb that the sacrifice of the brave-heart will not go in vain.

General Rawat along with Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh and General Officer Commanding 16 Corps Lieutenant General Saranjeet Singh visited the residence of Rifleman Aurangzeb to meet the bereaved family at Salani village in the Poonch district of Jammu division.

Speaking to Aurangzeb's father, the Army Chief assured him of all possible assistance to the family. "He also assured the family that the supreme sacrifice rendered by the brave son of India will not go in vain," said Colonel NN Joshi, defence spokesman of the Northern Commander in Udhampur.

On Thursday, Riffleman Aurangzeb of 44 Rashtriya Rifles was abducted by terrorists when he was on his way home to celebrate Eid with his family. While the driver of the private car he was travelling in was later released, his bullet-riddled body was recovered from Gusso village. A day later, the killers released a video in which the jawan was being questioned about various encounters.

General Rawat, who arrived in Jammu and Kashmir early on Monday, visited forward areas.

"The Army Chief interacted with soldiers and complemented them for their professionalism, selfless commitment and loyalty. He exhorted them to continue to work with zeal and dedication," Colonel Joshi said.

A BRAVE HEART

On Thursday, Riffleman Aurangzeb was abducted by terrorists. Police recovered his bullet-riddled body later. A day later, killers released a video of the jawan being quizzed about encounters.
