Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat warned Pakistan of a strong retaliation if it continued to sponsor terrorism and target India.

Addressing a gathering on Army Day in the Capital on Monday, Rawat said Pakistan Army has been continuously trying to help terrorists sneak into India along the Line of Control (LOC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

"We are using our might to teach them a lesson. If we are forced, then we may resort to 'other action' by stepping up military offensive," he said.

During his annual press conference on Friday, General Rawat had said if need be, the Indian Army is ready to take on the nuclear "bluff" of Pakistan.

Referring to Pakistan pushing terrorists, General Rawat reminded his soldiers that terrorists based in the neigbouring country are posing new challenges to India's security.

"Targeting Amarnath pilgrims and killing Lt Umar Fayaz is part of the new strategy to create fissures in civil society and disturb peace in the country," he said.

He also spoke about the increasing transgressions on the China border and how the army was dealing with it.

"There are continuing disputes on the Line of Actual Control on the Northern Borders (China) and we are working to secure ourselves," he said.

India is making efforts to forge ties with neighbouring and friendly countries to gather support on keeping China in check, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat said on Friday during his annual press conference.

"We are seeking support from other nations to make sure we are not isolated. We can't allow our neighbourhood to be drifted away. At a military level, other countries are on board," he had said.

He pointed out that Chinese tents, temporary toilets and observation posts still exist in Doklam at the site of the stand-off and did not rule out the possibility of Chinese movement again after winter.

"Doklam is divided into south and north. PLA troops are still present in the northern part. Have seen large number of guns, tanks and troop movement in other areas also," General Rawat said.
