Armed forces aren't merely doing a job; they are a rare breed of human beings: President Ram Nath Kovind

Addressing the cadets at the National Defence Academy in Pune, President Kovind stated that the cadets coming to National Defence Academy (NDA) from various parts of the country is symbolic of India’s essential unity.

President of India Ram Nath Kovind hailed the Armed Forces and called them a ‘symbol of excellence’.

Addressing the cadets at the National Defence Academy in Pune, President Kovind stated that the cadets coming to National Defence Academy (NDA) from various parts of the country is symbolic of India’s essential unity.

President Kovind was reviewing the passing out parade of the 134th course of the premier defence training academy of the country. During his address to the passing out cadets, Kovind urged cadets to draw courage from NDA's motto of 'Seva Paramo Dharma'.

He said, "The armed forces are not merely about doing a job, it is about answering a calling. This is a calling for rare breed of human beings. You (cadets) should draw courage from the NDA motto of 'Seva Paramo Dharma'.  These three words are your personal code of ethics therefore, hold them to your heart and act it out in deed."

Kovind also hailed the unity of the armed forces. He said, "The armed forces are the symbol of excellence and dedication for the entire country. The cadets at NDA are from all parts of the country and from a variety of communities. Its harmony speaks for our essential unity as much as for our pluralism as a society."

Stating that the armed forces represent the best of the Indian ethos, Kovind said, "If a civilian sees a member of the armed forces at a public place, there is an immediate emotion of pride and reassurance. It comes due to the unparalleled and unquestioning service to the nation in times of war and peace, on the border or within the country during natural calamity."

Earlier, the president presented the medals to the cadets who excelled during their training at the academy. Cadet Akshat Raj won the President's gold medal. Cadets MD Sohail Islam won the silver medal while Ali Ahmed Choudhury won the bronze medal.
