Union minister Arjun Singh's son and daughter on Wednesday disagreed that her decision to contest as an independent in the Lok Sabha polls from Sidhi after her claim for a Congress ticket was ignored had created a "crisis" for the family of the party stalwart.

On the eve of the voting in the constituency in Madhya Pradesh, Veena Singh's presence in the electoral fray is also reported to be posing a big dilemma for the supporters of the 79-year-old Union Human Resources Development minister.

Asked if Veena's decision to contest the elections as an Independent had created some sort of crisis for his family, her brother Ajay Singh said: "It is obvious that Veena's decision has created crisis for the family."

Ajay in his brief speech last evening in Sidhi in the presence of Arjun Singh said Veena's candidature represented a big spiritual dilemma for supporters of Arjun Singh in the constituency.

Veena Singh, however, did not agree that her decision to contest the elections had led to any crisis in the family.

"I have always worked for resolving a crisis and I do not think that I can ever cause one," she said.

The Independent nominee also did not did not buy her brother's argument on voter dilemma saying that during her campaign she did not get any sense of a dilemma in the minds of the voters in the Sidhi constituency.

Veena  said she was not surprised by her father's decision to address an election meeting in  support of the Congress candidate in Sidhi where he made a brief three-minute speech on Tuesday.

"I am not surprised at all by Arjun Singh's appeal for support (for Congress nominee)," Veena said. Arjun Singh made an appeal to people to vote for Congress candidate Indrajeet Patel.

After the poll rally ended in Sidhi on Tuesday, her son, daughter and daughter in-law went to meet her father to pay their respects and seek his blessings.

Ajay said voters were confused about whom they should vote for in the Lok Sabha elections.

Veena said she is in a positive frame of mind and not worried about the outcome of the voting. Sidhi will to go the polls on Thursday.

"I have been made in such a way that I look only at the positive things in life," she said.

Veena's decision to contest the elections had been criticised by Ajay on the ground that it was not right for her to contest as an independent merely because she had been denied a Congress ticket.

But Veena said that she was asking for votes on the basis of the work done by her family in Sidhi for the last 50 years.
