Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday, while asked to comment on the ongoing political crisis in Maharashtra, made an interesting analogy between politics and the game of cricket, highlighting the fact that in both, a scenario can be unpredictable and the future can change in ways that were not foreseen earlier.
“Anything can happen in cricket and politics. Sometimes you feel you are losing the match, but the result is exactly the opposite,” Nitin Gadkari was quoted as saying by news agency ANI on Thursday.
The Union Minister's comment comes as a cryptic remark on the current political stalemate in the state of Maharashtra, where the scenario regarding who will form the government seems unforeseen as of yet and the future, for all anyone knows, might change drastically to someone's favour.
The Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, however, refused to comment on who will come to power in the state. "This is an appropriate question to the wrong person," he said with a smile, clarifying that he wasn't a key player in the state's current political crisis and reporters would do better to ask the question to someone who was so.
The BJP leader was also asked whether he thinks policies launched in the state by the Devendra Fadnavis government will be affected if a non-BJP government comes to power, a question which he negated. "I feel there will be no difference. In our democracy, governments change but projects continue without any problem. No matter which government comes now, it will take ahead positive policies and development projects that have already been launched," Gadkari said while dismissing any concerns.
