While Bisara, where a man was murdered for having beef, continues to reel under prohibitory orders, another village in Dadri has come out in open defiance to 'mischievous elements stoking communal tension'.

Residents of Chithara village, merely 4-5 km from Bisara, have written a letter to the district magistrate, requesting the authorities to arrest unknown persons who slaughtered an animal and threw its remains in the village. Local here believe that such an act was done with the intention to stoke communal tension.

As reported by dna, remains of an animal were found in Chithra on Sunday causing tension in the area. Following the discovery of the remains, police were brought in to control the situation. The area has been calm ever since but locals here have decided not to take any chances. In a letter written to the authorities locals have demanded the accused be arrested within 48 hours.

Ravi Bhati, a local resident told dna that his village has never seen communal incidents and that was because of the trust the various communities of the village have in each other. "We will not allow mischievous people to come to our village and disrupt what we have here," Bhati said.

Another villager believes that the animal might have been slaughtered elsewhere and thrown in Chithara. "We want the culprits to be arrested. People who incite violence must be taken to task," he said.

Rajesh Pradhan, the head of the village said that in a meeting among the elders it was decided that police will be contacted so swift action is taken against rumour mongers.

"When some people found the remains of the animal they immediately called the other villagers. The village saw tense moments but after the interference of elders things were calmed down. Police also spoke to us and assured us that law and order will be maintained but we want the accused behind bars," said Pradhan, a villager adding that the villagers have demanded the arrest of accused within 48 hours.

The local police are yet to to identify any suspects. While there were speculation that the animal might have been sick and fallen into the canal, police now believes that remains might have been put in the village to disturb peace.
