Andhra Pradesh: ACB raids Deputy Transport Commissioner; seizes assets worth Rs 800 crore

Anti-Corruption Bureau officials have arrested a deputy transport commissioner in Andhra Pradesh after conducting raids that unearthed assets worth a whopping Rs 800 crores. A Mohan, the IAS officer, has been remanded for two weeks by the Vijayawada ACB court.

According to a Deccan Chronicle report, since Thursday, ACB officials were carrying out raids on the houses of A Mohan in nine places in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

The document value of Mohan's properties is reportedly Rs 100 crore to Rs 120 crore. Precious gems, diamonds and other valuables were also found in the houses of Mohan and his relatives. ACB officials said that several bank lockers were yet to be opened and searched, the report said.

Mohan had reportedly floated eight companies in the name of his elder daughter Tejasri and the officials found that the offices of these companies could not be traced as per the addresses in the documents. He had recently also transferred some property at Bellary in Karnataka to his name from his in-laws’ names.

“It took us a lot of time. Till Friday early hours, we were at his (Mohan’s) Kakinada residence, calculating the value of assets detected. Even now, we have to complete a lot of work regarding this. On Friday evening, we produced him at the Vijayawada ACB court,” DSP A Ramadevi told The New Indian Express.
