Tamil Nadu: Former Forest Minister Anandan set to rejoin Jayalalithaa's cabinet; to be sworn in on Aug 9

Former Forest Minister MSM Anandan, who was left out of the Jayalalithaa-led government that was sworn-in post her acquittal in a wealth case, will rejoin the cabinet on Sunday, with Governor K Rosaiah approving a recommendation made by the chief minister in this regard.

"The Governor has also approved the recommendation of the chief minister to allocate the portfolio of forest (to Anandan)," a Raj Bhavan statement said on Thursday.

Anandan, who represents Tirupur North Assembly constituency, will be sworn in as minister on August 9, it added. Highways Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami was earlier holding additional charge of the portfolio of forest.
