Finance Minister P Chidambaram today said he is amused by reports of him being projected as Prime Ministerial candidate in the 2014 general elections as he is aware of his limitations.

"I am only amused by that question. I know my limitations. I live and conduct myself according to my limitations and I wish to conserve a few years of my life to do some other things that I want to do," he told CNBC TV18.

He said this in response to a question whether he would be a Prime Ministerial candidate in the ensuing general elections next year.

When asked whether his response to the question is a 'no', Chidambaram quipped: "of course it is (no)".

The Minister further said as far as Congress party is concerned, there is a unanimous view that "Sonia Gandhi is the leader of present generation, and Rahul Gandhi will be the leader of next generation ... We appointed him as Vice President of the party only a couple of days ago".

Chidambaram said: "I am doing a job. I want to complete this job to the satisfaction of my party and the people of India and I look forward to doing a few other things in life".
