AAP candidate from Amethi Lok Sabha seat Kumar Vishwas tonight took a dig at SP leader Azam Khan and BJP's Amit Shah, saying both indulge in "polarisation" of votes to gain power.

"Both Azam Khan of Samajwadi Party and Narendra Modi's lieutenant Amit Shah are two sides of same coin... they are doing the same business for polarisation of votes for their vested interest, which is to gain power by all means," the poet-turned politician alleged.

The AAP leader reacted to Azam Khan's controversial statement that it was Muslim soldiers who had won the Kargil war for the country in 1999 and that no Hindu soldier had died. "Azam has disrespected the martyrs who sacrificed their lives on the border to save the country. It is the dishonour of social solidarity based on belief and love between the two communities," Kumar said.

He also hit out at SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and party leader Abu Azmi for their remarks on "rape" and "pre-marital sex" respectively. "The statements they have made are derogatory and shameful. It disrespects the entire women folk," he said.

Meanwhile, BJP nominee Smriti Irani sought to know from Amethi Congress MP and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi why the rail line between Unchahar and Amethi via Salon, could not be established. "Why after declaring twice about the rail line between Unchahar and Amethi via Salon, it could not be established?" she asked, claiming that Gandhi has showed negligence towards development of district.
