The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress Party engaged in verbal volleys on Friday over the CBI probe in the ambulance scam in Rajasthan.

BJP leader Ashok Parnami said that they have the documentary evidence of the scam which they had even given to the Congress as proof, but the previous government had ignored the evidence. "We raised this issue (ambulance scam) when Congress was in power, we have documentary evidence against them. The way corruption occurred in 108 (ambulance scheme), action needs to be taken against them," he told ANI here.
Parnami criticised the Congress leaders for making money by increasing the number of trips of the ambulances

"They got the contract by using the wrong documents which is why the CBI needs to investigate," he added. However, Congress leader Pratap Singh Kachriwas said that the allegations against the leaders were baseless and politically motivated.

"It is a politically motivated step. The names of Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot have been dragged into this case because they are the leaders of Congress in Rajasthan," Kachriwas told ANI. "The 108 ambulance scam is legally not a scam but a politically motivated issue. They are making a ruckus over a mere two-to-three crores. I'?s a baseless allegation," he added.

The scam dates back to 2009 when Krishna's company, Ziqitza Healthcare, a company run by Ravi Krishna, received a tender to operate 108 ambulances across Rajasthan, Bihar and Punjab. An audit was conducted after the BJP's allegations that Krishna's company was being paid money for ambulances which were on record only on paper, after which huge financial irregularities in the way the ambulances were operated, with losses amounting to Rs. 14 crore.
