The labour of love of Anjali Ambani (17) and Amar Ambani (15), children of Vimal Ambani (son of Dhirubhai Ambani's elder brother Ramnikbhai Ambani) - a 208-page coffee table book titled 'Fathers & Sons', celebrating the special bond shared by fathers with their sons - was released at Karnavati club here on Sunday by noted hotelier Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur.

The event took off with ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a dance performance by children of the NGO, Samvedna. The who's who of Gujarat, including Kokilaben Ambani (wife of late Dhirubhai Ambani),  Narendra Somani, Umang Hutheesing, Pankaj Patel, Shardul Patel, Anil Bakeri, Achal Bakeri, Chandan Nath, Priti Adani, Karsan Patel, Nabibaksh Mansuri, Sudhir Nanavati, Anil Relia, Mayur Jhaveri, Hiten Vasant and Janki Vasant, graced the occasion.

The book profiles celebrity fathers and sons from various walks of life, including Bollywood, sports, business, music, religion and science. In the book, the personalities reminisce about their lives together, narrate anecdotes and incidents that have brought them closer to one another.

“Our mom Sonal Ambani had earlier written 'Mothers & Daughters' as a tribute to our ailing nanima, celebrating the special and unconditional love shared between mothers and daughters. We liked the idea a lot and thought of bringing out a similar photographic book that can become a sequel to 'Mothers & Daughters',” said Anjali, who is currently studying in grade 12 at Sevenoaks, Kent, in the UK.

It took the brother-sister duo two and a half years to complete the book. “We listed the greatest achievers of the world and asked them to share the special moments they shared with their fathers/sons. Although it was a tough job, at the end of everything we found our experience to be pretty rewarding,” said Amar, the co-author of the book, who is currently studying in standard X at the Ahmedabad International School.

Priced at Rs1,800 per copy, the sale proceeds of the book will be shared by two charity organisations — Cancer Screening and Research Trust and Books and Balls.
