Amazon picks up top summer interns at IIMA

At the summer placements 2012-13 at IIIMA companies from five cohorts – consumer goods and services, Indian financial services firms, general management leadership programmes, niche consulting, and private equity, venture capital and investment management firms offered internship to students.

At the second cluster of summer placements 2012-13 at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) of Friday, companies from five cohorts – consumer goods and services, Indian financial services firms, general management leadership programmes, niche consulting, and private equity, venture capital and investment management firms offered internship to students.

According to a statement from the institute, a maximum of 11 internship offers from a single company during the day came from Amazon, a regular recruiter at the institute. At the second cluster, consumer goods and services companies represented a large portion of recruiters with regulars such as Amazon, HUL and P&G.

“In the general management domain, Tata Administrative Services, Aditya Birla Group, Mahindra & Mahindra and Reliance recruited a substantial number of summer interns. Leading MNCs such as General Electric and Johnson & Johnson also participated in recruitment. Technology firms also extended offers to several students in cluster-2 of this year’s summer placements with firms such as Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft recruiting students for several profiles,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, students from the B-school said that they had options aplenty to pick offers in the field of their choice.  Among the first time recruiters, Shell India offering sales and marketing internships came away impressed with IIMA.

“We were very impressed by the quality of applications and happy with the placement process,” Vinay Shinde, graduate recruitment team leader at Shell India said.
Clusters 3 and 4 of the placement programme will be held on November 16 and 19 respectively.
