Senior leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress party on Tuesday broke their silence on the alleged assault at Arvind Kejriwal's home by two MLAs on Monday midnight.

Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash alleged that he was assaulted at the home of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by two Aam Admi Party (AAP) MLAs after being called to a meeting at midnight.

Reacting to the development, Delhi Congress Chief Ajay Maken accused the AAP government of being a complete failure and demanded that Chief Minister Kejriwal apologises for this "hooliganism".

Kejriwal should apologise for this hooliganism which took place before him-AAP Govt is unable to deliver-Beating of Chief Secretary by MLAs in front of CM is another low & is aimed to divert attention from Govt failures! AAP does not know Governance and has failed miserably (sic)," Maken said in a tweet.

Former Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit called the incident shameful. "Sad situation when the Chief Secretary is being manhandled by MLAs, it is totally unacceptable and very very wrong, makes it worse if the CM was present there. CM himself has been a civil servant, did he ever do this? Or what if this happened to him? Shameful," Dikshit told ANI.

Describing the last night's alleged incident 'an act of Urban Naxalism', Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari sought Kejriwal's resignation, a high-level inquiry against him and suspension of the legislators concerned.

"ArvindKejriwal and his Goon MLAs misbehaved and threatened the Chief secretary of NCT Delhi Government last night... another shameful act of @AamAadmiParty Goons... an act of Urban Naxalism... #UrbanNaxaliteKejriwal must Resign (sic)," he tweeted.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra also hit out at the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party. "BJP condemns this incident. A constitutional crisis looms over Delhi. The first time we saw a Chief Secrtary being assaulted on the directions of a CM. AAP & anarchy have become synonymous. It has no relations with Constitution," Patra asked.

The BJP spokesperson went on to ask whether Kejriwal had any right to remain in his post as CM of Delhi. "Such CM has no moral responsibility to stay on the post. He must resign immediately," he added.

However, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Prakash Jarwal has lodged a complaint against Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash a day after he was accused of manhandling the latter.

However, speaking to ANI, Jarwal said, "We have lodged a complaint with SC/ST Commission against the casteist comments made by the Delhi Chief Secretary."

Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash met Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday afternoon, regarding the same.

Meanwhile, Rajnath Singh tweeted, "I am deeply pained by the happenings involving the Chief Secretary of the Delhi Government. The civil servants should be allowed to work with dignity and without fear."
