In a shocking case reported out of Allahabad, the police recovered the body of a man, and his family members that comprised his wife and three daughters.
The police said that the man’s body was found hanging, while his wife’s body was found inside a fridge. The bodies of the three daughters were found in a suitcase, an almirah and a room respectively.
Sources told DNA that the father Manoj Kushwaha (35), a farmer, first killed his wife Shweta (30) with a hammer and sharp-edged knife and then his three daughters Priti (8), Shivani (6) and Shreya (3). He then proceeded to hang himself.
“Prima facie, it seems that the man killed his wife and daughters, and later committed suicide. Investigation underway,” said Allahabad SSP Nitin Tiwari on bodies of 5 people found at a locked in Dhumanganj last night.
Neighbours came to know about the incident when Manoj’s father Gulab Chandra returned home and found the gate locked from inside. When the door was not opened, Gulab Chandra sought help from neighbours who called the police.
The Police broke opened the door and to their horror found Manoj hanging from the ceiling. When they searched for other missing members of the family, bodies of his wife and three children were found dumped in the refrigerator, almirah and a suitcase.
Neighbours told the police that Manoj was into betting and recently he had lost a lot of money and was under pressure and threat from lenders. “We are working on all possible angles to ascertain reasons. Prima facie, it looked like murder and suicide case,” said Nitin Tiwari, the SSP.
The reason behind the alleged suicides was not immediately known. It is also not clear whether the family was facing a financial crisis. The police have begun the investigation in the case.
