After Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the judiciary has now trained its guns on Baba Ramdev. The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday stayed land use change and work being done at 4,500 acres of land allotted to Baba Ramdev's company Patanjali in Noida (Gautam Budh Nagar) by the erstwhile Akhilesh Yadav government.

A two-member bench, comprising Justice Tarun Agarwal and Justice Ashok Kumar, has also issued notices to the Industrial Development Commissioner to file his reply under which law the land was allotted to Patanjai Ayurveda Sthal.

The HC has also directed the District Magistrate Gautam Budh Nagar to inspect the construction site and file a report in the court on whose order green trees were allowed to be uprooted by JCBs. The court has directed the DM to furnish details of officers and policemen present at the time of felling green trees.

The HC has also asked the commissioner Meerut how the land in Jewar tehsil was acquired from old laws. The Court passed the stay order disallowing any work at the land allotted to Baba Ramdev's company on a PIL filed by one Ausaaf and 13 others on the shady land deal. The HC has fixed September 4 as the next date for hearing the PIL.

Significantly, the Tehsildar Jewar (Gautam Budh Nagar) Abhay Kumar told the bench that neither the land allotted to Baba Ramdev's Company was ever acquired nor any compensation was paid to farmers.

Petitioner had told the court that he was allotted 200 bighas of land for developing land on lease by the previous government but later on the same land was included into 4500 acres of land allotted to Baba Ramdev's company.

Baba Ramdev's company was allotted 4,500 acres of land for developing Patanjali Ayurveda Park in Jewar tehsil by former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. The former Chief Secretary Deepak Singhal had played a crucial role into the deal. Sources claimed that Singhal had allegedly secured sales and marketing rights of Patanjali's products in lieu of favour showered on Baba Ramdev.
