Allahabad HC asks official to appear before it on bungalow allotment to Mayawati

The Allahabad High Court has directed the Estate Officer of Uttar Pradesh to appear before it on November 19 in the matter relating to allotment of bungalow former Chief Minister Mayawati to inform it as to how many bungalows have been merged in the city of Lucknow in an identical manner.

A division bench of justice Satyendra Singh Chauhan and justice Aditya Nath Mittal of the Lucknow bench gave this order on October 28 on a PIL filed by M L Yadav in 2013. The petitioner sought a direction to produce all the records of bungalow no.9, Mall Avenue locality here and make clear under which procedure/channel it was ultimately allegedly transferred in the name of Mayawati. He also sought direction for a detailed inquiry by an independent agency like CBI in this matter.

The petitioner further sought a direction to remove/demolish all alleged illegal encroachment/construction raised in bungalow nos. 4,12,14 and 16th situated at Gurudwara Raqabganj Road, New Delhi. The petitioner alleged that in four bungalows at New Delhi, illegal construction was made by Mayawati and bungalow no.9, at Mall Avenue here was transferred in her name in an illegal and arbitrary manner.

Earlier, the Court had sought a response from the central and state government in this matter and summoned the Estate Officer,UP. Accordingly, the Estate Officer appeared on October 28 before the court. Counter affidavits filed by the Union of India and the state government were taken on record.

The petitioner prayed for and was granted two weeks' time to reply the same. The court listed next hearing on the PIL for November 19.
