Aligarh Muslim University prof faces music for sexual harassment

Aligarh Muslim University professor, who ironically teaches gender justice, has been suspended on charges of sexual harassment of his student on pretext of correcting her project work in his chamber.

Acting swiftly, the UP Police has also registered a case under sections 509,354(A) and 354 of IPC after the student of LLM first year, hailing from Kashmir, registered a formal complaint against the chairman of law department, Shabir Ahmed with the Civil Lines police station.

The incident took place on December 3, when the accused allegedly called the victim inside his chamber stating that there was some problem in her project paper. When she entered the room, the accused molested her.

“A committee was formed immediately after the incident and he was suspended next day,” PRO of the university Rahat Abrar, told dna.
