Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Singh Yadav met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.

Yadav was accompanied by senior officials of his administration, including state chief secretary Alok Ranjan, televison reports said.

At the time of the filing of this report, it was not known what had transpired between the two leaders during their meeting.

Earlier, Yadav told media while on his visit to the capital, said that whichever government comes to power, the issue of law and order will always be a matter of great concern for it. Yadav restrained himself from commenting much on the law and order situation in the state, saying that "my words are portrayed differently by the media."

He added that "I have ordered all the police personnel to take strict action and reach the crime site as soon as possible. By doing so there will be no politics over the incident and no news will be formed out of it. Full investigation of both the victim as well as the culprit will also be done."

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister is being put under the scanner over the spate of rape cases in his state. The Badaun and Moradabad case of minor girls who were allegedly raped and then found hanging from trees have invited scorn from across the country.

The Chairperson of National Commission for Women, Mamta Sharma has also demanded Yadav's resignation.
