A day after sending out signals that all was well in his family, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday took potshots at the media saying it should concentrate on news and not "instigate" rifts, as he shared the dias with his uncle Shivpal Yadav after a long time.

Shivpal, in his speech at the event, heaped praise on Akhilesh and lauded the development works undertaken by his government.
"There are mediapersons who (when with me) will tell me that I am doing good work and say the same thing to Chacha (senior cabinet minister Shivpal Singh Yadav)..tell me that my decisions are good and tell chacha that his decisions are good," Akhilesh said addressing a function to dedicate Avadh Shilpgram to the people here.

Akhilesh remarked, "Arrey partrakar sathiyon, aap apni news chaloa, kyon jhagda kara rahey ho (mediapersons you concentrate on your news, why are you creating rifts)".
"In democracy there is a need to remain vigilant from many things including media...don't know what will take the shape of breaking news," he said.
Amid reports of differences between them, Shivpal yesterday had a 90-minute meeting with the chief minister at his residence, an apparent attempt to send a message of unity in the Yadav family.

Claiming that his government has worked for every region of the state and sphere to strike a balance in development, Akhilesh said that in comparison to all previous governments the SP government will stand out for its work.

The chief minister regretted that his party has to face a lot of negative publicity and said that opposition parties will indulge in every kind of talk as it is election time in the state.
To a criticism by Congress that development works have been undertaken only in Lucknow and Etawah during the SP government, Akhilesh said "Bahut din baad aye ho ankhey kholo, kitne laptops baant diye, sub stations banva diye" (you have come after a long time open your eyes and see what all has been done).

"Congress alleges that no work is being done other than Lucknow and Etawah....they cannot forget Etawah as the party was founded there," he stressed.
The chief minister said that because of the steps taken by the government, a marked change will be seen in the power sector and assured of 24 hour supply from October.
