Congress has finally managed a truce between Ajit Jogi and the state unit chief Charan Das Mahant in Chhattisgarh hoping the party may now put up a united fight to unseat BJP. Former chief minister Jogi has been offered a ticket for the Lok Sabha and instead his son Amit has been nominated candidate for Marwahi ST seat won by him last time.
In the second list of 45 candidates issued on Monday, Jogi’s wife Renu Jogi has also been nominated. She will be seeking re-election from Kota.
Charan Das Mahant and leader of opposition in the state assembly Ravindra Choubey were both staunchly opposed to Jogi, who was also sulking for past few months.
Other important leaders figuring in the Congress latest list include AICC treasurer Motilal Vora’s son Arun Vora from Durg City that he lost to BJP’s Hemant Yadav in the last election while late Shyama Charan Shukla’s MLA son Amitesh is fielded from the Shuklas’ traditional Rajim seat.
