Senior Congress leader Ajay Maken has alleged that the Delhi Chief Secretary assault case was AAP's strategy to help BJP by diverting attention from the multi-billion dollar banking scam.

Maken, the president of Delhi Congress, tweeted out two pictures, supposedly showing two advertisements - one by the BJP-led Centre and another by Arvind Kejriwal's Delhi government - having the same set of crowd.

"Simple strategy of AAP, call #DelhiChiefSecretary at 12Midnight; thrash CS by MLAs and help BJP by diverting attention from #NiravModi. So much so, that both the BJP+AAP have same crowd/supporters in their Ads! Is it a mere coincidence? Look at the pictures," Maken tweeted, along with the two pictures.

The Centre's advertisement is about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Give it Up' campaign and shows him appealing people to give up the LPG subsidy. The other picture is of a Delhi government's ad celebrating its three years' achievements and picture  Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and a group of people.

Yesterday, Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash alleged that he was assaulted by a few AAP legislators at Kejriwal's residence on Monday night.

Terming the incident as "unfortunate", Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari had wondered yesterday if it was an attempt to divert the attention of the country from the multi-crore bank fraud.

Doubts have arisen in the minds of people over the incident as it has come at a time when the entire country is focused on the bank fraud, he said.

The incident came as the Punjab National Bank (PNB) has alleged that it was duped of Rs 11,400-crore by companies linked to billionaire jewellers Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi.

"It is an unfortunate incident. Such an incident should not have happened," Tewari told reporters, adding that the Congress ran a government in Delhi for 15 years in a proper way.

The spokesperson said that there were doubts over the incident taking place now when the entire country's focus was on the banking sector scam.

Maken also launched an attack on AAP and demanded Kejriwal’s apology.

“Kejriwal should apologise for this hooliganism which took place before him-AAP Govt is unable to deliver-Beating of Chief Secretary by MLAs in front of CM is another low & is aimed to divert attention from Govt failures! AAP does not know Governance and has failed miserably (sic),” he tweeted.
