Air India offers Rs 10,000 to cabin crew to be on time for Haj flights

The one-time offer also requests minimum leaves from the crew

As a remedy to minimise number of delayed Haj flights, Air India is offering Rs 10,000 to the cabin crew to be on time and take minimum leaves.

Air India is in process of hiring 800 cabin crew because of the severe cabin crew shortage. This shortage leads to the delayed flights. To overcome this obstacle, Air India chairman Rohit Nandan wrote a letter to cabin crew offering the incentive to opimise the productivity, reports an English daily.

Approximately 38,000 Hajis will fly to Jeddah from Delhi, Srinagar, Mumbai, Kochi, Hyderabd, Panjim, and Nagpur this year. Air India plans to operate 230 flights in two phases to accommodate them all. Phase one starts from August 16 till September 17 and will see 115 special flights. The second phase will start from September 28 till October 28 and will see 115 flights to bring Haj pilgrims back.

According to the press release, The airline will operate a 340 seater B777-300ER aircraft to fly pilgrims to and from Jeddah.
