The India Army's oldest Air Defence Regiment today began a trekking expedition to Himachal Pradesh's picturesque Spiti Valley to compile data on the flora and fauna of the region.

The expedition from Kiato to Poh with altitudes upto 15500 feet along the way will be undertaken by the team in a span of 10 days.

The expedition team comprising officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and soldiers led by Captain Shantanu Kaushik was flagged off by the Commander, Rising Star Brigade, today.

The trekking team will carry the message of the indomitable spirit and Will to Win over the course of the expedition and spread awareness about the Army among the people living in remote Kiato and Pooh areas, a defence spokesman said.

The unit will also compile details of flora and fauna of the region on behalf of the formation, he said.
