At least 90 children were taken ill today allegedly after consuming milk under mid-day meal programme at a primary school of Kheragarh town here, police said. Condition of 15 school children of Untgir village is serious, they said.

All of them were rushed to the nearby public health centre(PHC), some to Agra district hospital and the critical ones to the emergency ward of the SN Medical College, police said. PHC's doctor incharge Dr Sanjay Solanki said there was something wrong with the milk and therefore the children became victims of food poisoning.

District magistrate Pankaj Kumar has ordered Khairagarh SDM to hold an inquiry. Senior officials including the SSP Parminder Singh, Basic Shiksha Adhikari and some political leaders reached the school to console parents. The person who supplied the milk is absconding, they said.

Milk samples have been sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis, they added.

While villagers accused the Gram Pradhan Holi Ram of supplying spurious milk for the mid-day meal and playing with the lives of the children, Ram said he took utmost care.
