After Pulgaon fire, Army Eastern Command reviews ammunitions depot

Close to a week after a massive fire broke out at one of Asia's biggest ammunition depot in Maharashtra's Pulgaon, the Army Eastern Command Headquarters reviewed security checks at its ammunition depot, said Lieutenant General Praveen Bakshi, Eastern Army Commander on Monday.

“One accident that could have been catastrophic was restricted. However, we lost two officers. It was restricted to one shed. It was accident which was beyond our control. We have done a quick review of our own, I will not mention where they are, but you are aware. All security checks have been done and they are absolutely safe. There is no such thing as unsafe. I would like to ensure all, that everything is safe,” said Lieutenant General Praveen Bakshi, Eastern Army Commander on the sidelines of the veterans’ helpline launch at the Fort William, Eastern Command Headquarters on Monday.

On Wednesday, a massive fire broke out at the ammunition depot of Maharashtra's Pulgaon. As many as 18 people were reported dead, including two officers.
