Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia inaugurated the Signature Bridge over Yamuna river, today. The bridge, which will reduce travel time between northeast and north Delhi, will be open for public tomorrow.

Earlier in the day, BJP Delhi chief and MP Manoj Tiwari got into a fracas at the opening of the Signature Bridge on Sunday.

Tiwari claimed some members of the Delhi Police misbehaved with him at the inauguration. He was quoted saying by news agency ANI: “I was invited to the inauguration event. I am MP from here. So what's the problem? Am I a criminal? Why has the police surrounded me? I'm here to welcome him (Arvind Kejriwal). AAP and police have misbehaved with me.”

He added: “In my constituency (North East Delhi.), I re-started construction of the bridge after it was stalled for many years & now Arvind Kejriwal is organising an inauguration ceremony."

Delhi's long-awaited Signature Bridge is opening today for the public on November 4. The project aims to reduce travel time and traffic congestion between the north-eastern and northern parts of the national capital.

The bridge, built over the Yamuna River, will be the first asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge in India.

The bridge also includes a glass-steel observation deck at the top of the bride, although it will not be available for public use for at least another three months, according to media reports. The deck offers a panoramic view of the city.

The project was announced in 2004, although a number of delays and budget modifications led to the project being delayed several times.
