Against the backdrop of developments in the Supreme Court on the Uttarakhand issue and the heated debate in Rajya Sabha on the AgustaWestland chopper scam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a meeting with senior ministers of his Cabinet on Wednesday evening.

Soon after the meeting of the Union Cabinet, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad stayed back to have a meeting with the PM.

While Singh and Naidu left soon after, Parrikar and Prasad remained closetted with the Prime Minister in the conference room of Parliament Library Building. In fact, Parrikar was talking to reporters after the Cabinet meeting when he was asked to rush back to the Cabinet venue.

The Supreme Court this morning accepted the plea of the Centre that two more days be given to it to respond to its suggestion about the feasibility of holding a floor test in Uttarakhand Assembly under its supervision.

In the Rajya Sabha, Parrikar targeted the previous UPA government over the controversial AgustaWestland deal, saying the ongoing probe will focus on those named in the Italian Court judgement.
