Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Russia on May 21 for an informal summit with President Putin in Sochi.

The informal Summit in Russia's Sochi between PM Modi and President Putin is in keeping with the tradition of regular consultations between India and Russia at the highest levels.

PM Modi had last month met Chinese Premier Xi Jinping for an informal session.

Following the Doklam standoff last year both countries increased dialogue to scale down tensions and improve relations with talks at various levels.

The announcement was made by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi while addressing a press conference with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in Beijing.

Modi will be meeting Xi Jinping in the city of Wuhan.

"We will make sure that the informal summit (between PM Modi and President Jinping on April 27-28) will be a complete success and a milestone in China-India relations," Wang Yi said.

"We see socialism with Chinese characteristics entering a new era and India acts as a crucial stage in its development and revitalization. It is against this backdrop that President Xi and Prime Minister Modi have decided to hold the informal summit," he added.
