Although harassment cases have become a common occurrence in the country, a brave girl, Jasleen Kaur decided to stand up for herself after she was eve teased in Tilak Nagar in New Delhi on Sunday night.

Kaur took the matter into her own hands by sharing a picture of the eve-teaser who heckled her at a signal while travelling at around 8 pm on Sunday. With the picture she also posted the details of the incident. As per Kaur, it wasn't just his obscene comments but also his sheer audacity and the inaction of the people around her that spurred her to share her story and shame the offender. Kaur told a news website that when she warned the offender saying that she was clicking a picture of him and would file a complaint, he posed for the picture and dared her to try and file a complaint.

Her Facebook post of the offender got many people to urge for instant action on the matter. As she had lodged a police complaint along with his photograph and bike number, they managed to arrest him on Monday evening.

The Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal on Monday had congratulated the girl for standing up. "I would like to congratulate the girl for standing up and confronting," Maliwal said. We support her and will be meeting her today," she added. "If she wants I will surely meet her, she is a good lady and I look up to her." Kaur said about her meeting.

Moreover, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Pushpendra Kumar said on Monday that Kaur will be awarded Rs 5,000 for her bravery of being able to talk about the incident openly.

This is not the first eve-teasing case to have been brought up on social media though. Last week, a woman in Mumbai tweeted out a photograph of a man who allegedly masturbated in front of her in Colaba. The Maharashtra Chief Minister's office took the complaint seriously and arrested the offender a few days later.
