In an attempt to embarrass the ruling BJP government in Goa, the secretary of Goa Congress has applied to hold his wedding reception at the Goa airport after the national president of the BJP held a public meeting within the airport parameters.

Janardan Bhandari, Secretary of the PCC has filed an application for the same. "I was searching for a good place near Vasco to hold my wedding reception. After seeing Amit Shah's public meeting at Goa airport, I decided to apply to have it at the same place. BJP might have had the meeting illegally but I have no intention to wed by violating the law," said Bhandari, explaining his move. The Congress has also decided to file a formal complaint against top officers of the CISF who allowed a gathering of around 2,000 people to welcome Amit Shah and attend the meeting inside airport limits. The BJP has maintained that the meeting was spontaneous and taking permission from any authority did not arise.

"People gathered there to welcome Shah. Because of the overwhelming attendance, we requested him to speak. Nobody was inconvenienced," said Mauvin Godinho, BJP leader and minister.

Congress has questioned Mauvin's defence. "If the meeting was spontaneous, how come they were ready with a dais, sound system and chairs?" said Chodankar.
