Agitating lawyers across western Uttar Pradesh abstained from work on Monday protesting the killing of an advocate in court premises in Allahabad.
Following a strike call by Bar Council of India, judicial work came to standstill in Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Saharanpur, Baghpat and Bijnore courts, said President District Bar Association, Rajendra Prasad. Meanwhile, security has been tightened in court compound here and additional police force has been deployed as a precautionary measure.
On March 12, advocate Nabi Ahmed was shot dead allegedly by sub-inspector Shailendra Singh inside the district court premises in Allahabad sparking violent protests by lawyers.
