A delegation of Suchna Evam Rozgar Adhikar Abhiyan on Monday handed over a representation to the MGNREGA Commissioner demanding increase of work days from 100 to 150 in drought affected areas.

They also demanded strong legislative provisions to ensure the accountability of the government machinery.

The Abhiyan has been conducting a public hearing or 'Jan Sunwai' on MGRNEGA in which people from more than 20 districts have participated.

The delegation in its representation also demanded provision for compensation for delay in payment under MGNREGA, printing of new job cards, social audit, arrangements of drinking water and shed at sites and transparency in the functioning of the government machinery, a release said.

A dharna 'Jawab Do' was started by the Abhiyan activists at Shahid memorial on June 1.

A 'Jan-Sunwai' was held today in which some resolutions were passed and one of them was handed over to the commissioner of MGRNEGA as their representation.
