Hours after talking about her 'Shame the Rapist' campaign on national television, activist Sunitha Krishnan's car was stoned by unidentified persons, in Hyderabad. Krishnan had posted videos on YouTube on Thursday in an effort to kickstart her campaign nation-wide.

A message sent to Krishan brought to her attention two videos that have been circulating on WhatsApp. The videos showed some men raping women and seemed to have been filmed by the rapists in order to intimidate and silence their victims.

Krishnan edited the video to make it shorter, blurred the faces of the victims to protect their identity and put the videos up on YouTube and on her Facebook page, in a bid to have the culprits caught. In one post on Facebook, she wrote, "We have to 'stand up now to end this', these rapist have to be traced... shamed and punished."

However, the video has now been removed from YouTube for "violating its terms of service".

On Friday morning, hours after Krishnan talked about her campaign on a national news channel, her car was stoned by unidentified people.

Krishnan is a rape survivor and has been actively campaigning against human trafficking through her organisation Prajwala. She has reportedly approached the Union Home Secretary and the Union Women and Child Welfare Minister Maneka Gandhi with regard to her campaign and the video evidence.
