Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Ram Chander won the Bawana seat on Monday after he bagged 59,886 votes while BJP finished a distant second with 35,834 votes. Congress party came third, it's candidate Surender Kumar bagged 31,919 votes. A victory in Bawana bypolls means many things for Arvind Kejriwal and his party.

For a very long time, things have not been going right for AAP--party got trounced in recent Goa assembly elections, dismal performance in Punjab assembly elections shocked the AAP supporters, and BJP sweeping Delhi civil polls really disappointed party sympathisers. If that was not enough AAP lost Rajouri Garden seat in April and many started saying AAP had lost the popularity.

But Bawana has inspired the AAP leadership and cadre as this reveals that things can be turned around if the party care to take the right steps and work for the betterment of Delhi.

After recent defeats Kejriwal brought about a change in his strategy. He tried to avoid unnecessary confrontation, stopped blaming Prime Minister for Narendra Modi for everything,  and focused on soliving Delhi's problems. Bawana victory shows, Kejriwal's new strategy is working and he is getting back the lost support.

As they say in cricket: You are as good as your last game, AAP can now go among the people, confident and excited after Bawana victory. This victory means, at least AAP can claim this, people have faith in Kejriwal and the party still can regain the lost ground. With Bawana victory, AAP will now have 66 MLAs in the 70-member Delhi Assembly.

Congress had drawn a blank in the 2015 Assembly elections. The party was hoping to open its account in the Delhi Assembly, but could not succeed this time also.

Bawana is one of the largest constituencies in Delhi with close to three lakh voters.
