AAP will give special status to villages if it comes to power in Delhi: Ashish Khetan

The Aam Aadmi Party will give special status to villages and review some clauses of the Delhi Land Reforms Act if it comes to power in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections.

In its fourth Delhi Dialogue at Matiala tomorrow - an attempt to woo people of all stratas of society - the party will dedicate a session to address the problems of rural Delhi.

"Our main thrust will be to give special status to villages. We intend to bring in administrative reforms by reviewing some sections of the Delhi Land Reforms Act, which have been an impediment in the growth of villages and its residents. We also intend to review and rehaul Lal Dora areas of Delhi," Ashish Khetan, party leader and incharge of Delhi Dialogue. AAP, which had not done well in the last assembly elections in the the rural areas of Delhi, intends to make inroads again.

Apart from this, the party also intends to spell out its plan on how to improve and upgrade the infrastructure of these villages.

"We want to provide facilities like piped drinking water, have better road connectivity to villages. Our plan is the that the rural economy should be reinvirogated by taking measures like providing good quality seeds and manure. We will also come up with veterinaty hospitals," Khetan said.

To tap the potential of the youth in villages, party chief Arvind Kejriwal will also announce several steps like building collges. "Our party wants to build new colleges in rural areas and we will do it with the cooperation of farmers. Sports facilities will be developed so that the sporting talent in rural Delhi can be tapped", Khetan said.

"Of the total 362 villages in Delhi, 135 have been urbanised while others have remained rural in nature, with a total population of over 4.2 lakh people," Khetan added.
