In the run up to Goa legislative assembly elections, politically important Benaulim constituency witnessed a rally taken out by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Royla Fernandes.

"AAP is the only party to begin its campaigning here, even as other political outfits are yet to decide their candidates. The first round of door-to-door campaigning in the constituency is completed," Fernandes, an architect-turned-politician said on Wednesday. The rally was held on Sunday.

The Catholic voter dominated constituency in south Goa, next to Margao town, was traditionally a Congress bastion until it was won by Goa Vikas Party candidate Caetan Silva during the 2012 Assembly election. "The door-to-door campaign of AAP in Benaulim began prior to Arvind Kejriwal's rally held on May 22 in Goa. All volunteers have knocked every door in the village," Fernandes said.

She said the AAP volunteers have heard the problems faced by people in this constituency and would be suggesting practical solution for them. "We are touched by desire of the people to fight corruption and people are joining in this revolution for clean and honest politics," Fernandes added.

AAP has announced its 30 candidates who will be contesting the upcoming assembly election in Goa. The party has decided to field candidates in all the 40 constituencies.
