AAP organises procession, targets 2016 Assembly polls

Buoyed by its spectacular success in the Delhi Assembly election, Aam Aadmi Party today orgainsed a procession in the city to test political waters in West Bengal.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) local leaders called the exercise an awareness campaign to cleanse society of corruption and fight the 2016 Bengal Assembly elections.

The procession, which began from College Square in the northern part of the city and terminated at Esplanade in the central part, was attended by just about 500 participants, but the organisers claimed they had received a massive response over phone and e-mail.

"We are all Aam Aadmi and as such we don't have any leader in this state. It is just an awareness campaign. We shall now strengthen our organisation capitalising on massive support from people," a participant Prem Kumar Chowdhury said.

Participants like Mukul Kesri, Satish Srivastava and Ranjana Singh said that their target would be to create a corruption-free society and contest the next Assembly election in 2016.

The participants wearing AAP caps carried placards and festoons calling upon people to practice politics with good intention and a positive mindset for the betterment of people and progress of the country.

The party opened its electoral books bagging 28 seats in the Delhi Assembly election, next only to BJP's 31.
