The stage is set for the Aam Aadmi Party's national executive meet on Wednesday, as fireworks, tempers and heartbreaks are expected from the party's decision making body. The party, which till last week was going strong, faces implosion.

Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav will most probably come out of the party's parliamentary affairs committee (PAC). While the two leaders have confirmed they will attend the meeting, convenor Kejriwal himself will not be there. The Delhi government on Tuesday said the chief minister is unwell due to continuous high sugar and cough and will be on leave for ten days for naturopathy treatment. Reports say he will be leaving for Bengaluru on February 5.

However, Kejriwal has an army of loyalists to represent his side, and do his bidding. One of Bhushan's main charges against Kejriwal is how he is subsuming AAP. Leaders though deny that there is a cult of personality in the party, that no one blindly follows one leader.

In interviews to the media, Bhushan has said that while he asked Kejriwal to stick to the party's ethics, Kejriwal had replied that compromise was necessary in politics.

Sources say that negotiations and meetings are on in the party as it gears itself for Wednesday's meeting.

Currently the party is under much media scrutiny and facing condemnation for recording a conversation with a journalist, formerly with The Hindu, and using that recording without her consent. A senior party leader said it is was very unfortunate that the recording had got leaked to the media as it was always meant for internal party purposes. He said they needed the recording to prove that stories against Kejriwal were being "leaked" by Yogendra Yadav. Facing flak from the media, he turned the heat on Yadav instead, calling him someone who did "camp politics" and wanted to become the party's national convenor.

According to him, the party confronted Yadav with this recording last September.

He also denied that the national executive had ever decided against seeking Congress support to form government. Bhushan's letter to the NE had mentioned this decision, saying it was not respected and efforts were made to reach out to the Congress.

He said that there are no minutes to the NE meetings, and it is impossible to verify both the claims.

Activist Nikhil Dey confirmed to dna that he was asked to reach out to Congress on AAP's behalf, which he refused to. However, he clarified that there was no official decision to seek Congress support or official meeting with the party.
