Lawyer and AAP leader Prashant Bhushan on Saturday dubbed as "opportunistic" Kiran Bedi's decision to join BJP and contest the coming Delhi Assembly polls as its chief ministerial candidate, saying it went 'sharply against' her earlier stand against electoral politics.

He also said the BJP's bid to gain power by projecting Bedi as its chief ministerial nominee would fail.

"When Bedi was invited to join the Aam Admi Party (AAP) when it was formed, she said she was not interested in electoral politics. Now, she has joined the BJP and agreed to be its chief ministerial candidate. This is opportunism," Bhushan, a founder leader of AAP, said at a face-to-face at the Press Club in Kannur.

Criticising the Narendra Modi Government, Bhushan charged it with not initiating any effective action to crackdown on corruption and trace black money, which formed the main campaign plank of the BJP.
