Voicing apprehension about discrepancies in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), the Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday approached the Election Commission seeking to know what should the voters do in such a scenario. Party leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Ashutosh met Election Commission officials to know what is the procedure if a voter finds such a discrepancy in an EVM.

"Public is in doubt about EVMs. In the past, such discrepancies have been noticed. We met EC officials and asked them for a solution to ensure that there are no such issues in upcoming polls. They told us that if a voter observes that he pressed the button of Party A and the bulb lit against Party B's name. They should bring it to notice of the officers on duty," Kejriwal told reporters. "The problem will be cross checked and if the machine is found to be faulty, it will be sealed and replaced and if required re-polling will be held on particular booth," he added.

Kejriwal also took to Twitter to appeal to the voters to not remain silent on noticing any such discrepancy.

"Ppl worried abt EVMs. While voting,if u press "A" party but light against "B" party lit, what shud u do? N wat shud officer do on ur complain? (sic)," AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said on micro-blogging site twitter.

"My appeal 2 all voters - if EVM not workin properly, don't remain silent. Pl complain to booth officer. Action will be taken on ur complaint," he tweeted.

Elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly are scheduled to take place on February 7, while the counting of votes will take place on February 10.
