8,000 photos scanned but police unable to identify Surat victim

The Gujarat police has scanned 8,000 photographs but failed to identify a minor girl whose body was recovered with 86 injuries.

The state government has contacted the Odisha police for any relevant information related to the case. Police says the girl could be from Odisha.

The body was found by police from a secluded place near Jiaav-Budiya road in Pandesara area of Surat on April 6.

The Surat police said on Sunday that 1,200 posters were posted across the city and a reward of Rs 20,000 was announced for identification.

Police is also tracking all movements on nearby roads through CCTV footage and is listening to phone calls made in the area to see if anyone was or is talking about the case.

A builder has come forward and announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for identification.
