7-year-old boy kidnapped in Mumbai; police rescue him from Varanasi

The Nehru Police have arrested a 20-year old youth for kidnapping the 7-year-old boy from Mumbai's Sable Nagar Area by luring the victim with ice cream. The Nehru Nagar police rescued the victim from Varanasi and arrested the accused who has been identified as Kishankumar Laccheram who hails from Varanasi and was living in Mumbai near the victim.

According to Police, on February 2, the victim who is resident of Kurla (E) was playing with his friends when accused Kishankumar lured him by promising ice cream and kidnapped him.

After a thorough search in the locality by parents when the boy was untraceable, the parents approached police and lodged a missing complaint. 

The same evening the victim's father got a call on his mobile number informing him that his son was with him, and if he wants him safe, he should cough up Rs 15 lakh after which the police registered a kidnapping case and started investigation.

The father got another call the next day when he bargained and brought down the amount to Rs 5.5 Lakh. "The caller would call daily asking about money from various locations and by using different SIM cards. With technical help we finally zeroed in on him at Varanasi and told the father to come with us for the exchange of ransom money and the victim. Then, we laid the trap and arrested Laccheram from Varansi," said Pramod Khorpade, senior inspector of Nehru Nagar police.
