Six resident doctors of a state-run medical college here have been booked for allegedly harassing a junior doctor, police said on Wednesday.

Harsh Vardhan, a junior doctor in orthopaedic department at Ganesh Shanker Vidyarthi Medical College (GSBM) received a call from his senior Dr Hemraj yesterday, asking him to come to the senior resident doctor's room, Inspector of Swarup Nagar police station Rajiv Dwivedi said.

When Vardhan reached there, six senior resident doctors of orthopaedic department including Hemraj told him to take up the posture of a 'chicken', Dwivedi said.

When he refused to do so, they locked the room and beat him up, police said, adding the junior doctor managed to escape and reached the police station.

On the complaint of the victim, cases have been registered against the six doctors under relevant sections of IPC, Dwivedi said, adding search is on to nab the accused.

The accused have been identified as Dr Sudip, Dr Hemraj, Dr Rajbahadur, Dr Manoj Kaushik, Dr Rohit Jain and Dr Vikas, police said.

Principal of GSBM college, however, refused to comment on the incident.
