53 children fall sick from mid-day meal served in Madhya Pradesh school

Fifty three children ill yesterday after eating food served on Independence Day at a government-run primary school in Balapur, Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh.

The children had gathered for Independence Day celebrations and were given food (comprising of puris) as a part of their mid-day meal.

As per a media report District Project Coordinator Ashok Paradkaron said that on eating many children complained of uneasiness.

The sick children have been hospitalised as Ichhawar Civil Hopsital. Six of them who are in a serious condition, were sent to Sehore district hospital. In wake of incident the district education department has cancelled the license of the NGO which supplied the food.
