5,000 lawyers boycott work to protest Comrade Pansare's murder

At least 5,000 lawyers belonging to the Nashik Bar Association in the district boycotted work on Tuesday to protest against the murder of late Comrade Govind Pansare, who used to be an advocate.

At least 5,000 lawyers belonging to the Nashik Bar Association in the district boycotted work on Tuesday to protest against the murder of late Comrade Govind Pansare, who used to be an advocate.

Comrade Pansare who was a leader of the Communist Party of India in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra was shot by unidentified hitmen in Kolhapur, after which he succumbed to his bullet injuries in Mumbai recently, Nashik Bar Association chairman advocate Nitin Thakare said.

After the attack on Pansare on February 16, lawyers had sported red ribbons in court but on Tuesday all lawyers boycotted work in protest though all courts in the district remained open, he said.
