5 bodies recovered in Tandava reservoir boat tragedy

Six other occupants of the boat which capsised in Tandava reservoir yesterday are still missing and are feared drowned.

With the recovery of five bodies today, the death toll in the boat tragedy in Tandava Reservoir in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh rose to six.

Naval divers, who launched search operations in the morning, fished out five bodies( all in the age group of 9 to 12 years), the official said.

The search operation was suspended in the evening and would resume tomorrow morning, the official said.

A country-made boat ferrying 14 villagers, most of them children of Ammapeta in Golugonda mandal who were returning after worshipping a local deity on a hillock, capsised yesterday on its way back.
