More than Rs 6 crore are paid every month by the Noida Authority to nearly 4,700 'ghost' contract employees, initial findings of an internal probe have revealed.

DNA has accessed some documents related to the probe looking into credentials of service provider agencies and employees.

Sources said that several manpower resourcing agencies are working for Noida Authority to provide carpenters, drivers, electrician, gardener, and plumber etc.

"The credentials of these agencies and employees were not thoroughly checked for years, which led to crores of rupees in loss to the exchequer," said a source.

The Noida Authority is responsible for development of the city and deals and monitors the real estate projects.

Former Noida Authority chairman and CEO Rama Raman on March 29, 2016 had ordered a probe to identify the number of workers appointed at different departments in the authority, payments made to the manpower resourcing agencies, process of hiring agencies and manpower, credentials of placement agencies including their registered addresses, verification of these employees etc (a copy of order is with DNA).

Noida Authority deputy CEO Saumya Srivastav was appointed for the probe.

The new additional CEO Ashok Kumar Srivastav, said, "I have no idea of any such probe. I will be in a situation to comment, once I am aware of the details."
